As you know I love Twitter. OK there are some things i find annoying, the lack of groups is one.
The main thing is the lack of uptake amoungst my “real” friends and colleagues. OK, this is in part due to the short sightedness of most customer sites using WebSense or proxy rules to block it. I have just been further depressed by Twitter Local a great site that shows you the geographocal location of tweets. I have seen similar sites on the macro scale, for example: TwitterVision gives you a world map with tweets appearing all over it.
Twitter Local works at the other end of the scale, you give it a location and a radius and it shows you “local” tweets. So, why am I depressed: I can only find two other twitterers within 5 miles of me!

Abdur from Summize here, you can do local queries this way: http://summize.com/search?q=near%3AGlasgow you can change the distance on the right or add words to the query to get tweets on specific topics.
Thanks for that, it seems to be a lot more flexible than TwitterLocal.
My “own” tweets are not showing up on your site though !

Hmmm, Can you tell us which ones we missed and we can look into it:
http://summize.com/search?q=from%3ARossGoodman
I’m expecting to see my tweets showing up as being from Larkhall, but they do not show up until I set the radius to 10k.
http://summize.com/search?q=near%3ALarkhall&within=10&units=km
We just launched our local search last week, so tweets past that date are not available via local operators. If there is sufficient need in the future we can index back in time.
The point is not so much my historical tweets, it’s the fact that my location is set to Larkhall but I don’t show up until I set the radius to 10k from Larkhall.
