Emma was at here school prom last week:
Addictions
I recently had the pleasure of a trip to the local casualty unit. (Only took 2 1/2 hours so a flying visit)
Previously I’ve been amused, as a non smoker, at the folks at the front door smoking.
This time I could hardly get into the building.
The front door hoards now have two competing factions, each as large as each other and both feverishly feeding their insatiable addictions.
The “older” crowds puffing away on their cigarettes.
The “younger” crowds texting away like crazy.
The funny thing is that; despite the fact that these people are obviously ill, they are willing to stand outside in their pajamas in horizontal rain to feed their respective addictions.
Comment Spam
For some reason, one of the posts on here is attracting some spam comments.
I’m fiddling with the settings slightly to try and block them with the least impact, not that there are a lot of “valid” comments so far !
Guess where we went last week ?
The fantastic folks at the Make A Wish Foundation arranged for us to accompany Emma on a shopping trip to London.
We had a flight on the London Eye, a days shopping and then a trip to the Tower Of London, luckily they let us out !
A big thank you also to Jamie Owens from London Taxi who looked after us all day whilst we were shopping and had to listen to us raving about how fantastic the Lion King show was !
Building Work About To Start !
After lots of discussion, the plans are in, been to planning and passed.
I spoke to the builder, Colin Scott of Scott Builders (who also did the bathroom conversion), this morning so he could arrange access. So, it’s full steam ahead !
In preparation, I read many reviews of the best water softeners and I took the obligatory “before” photos:
As you can almost just see I have filled in the swimming pool that was under the window.
As the build progresses I’ll be recording the details. See my Flickr Set here.
It’s been quite a busy week.
- Emma went and met the Rangers players
- We got a new front door
- The extension may be getting back on track.
- Unfortunately Emma is getting slightly worse.
- Neighbours !
Snooty Pottybrains
Time for some fun !
So why is my new name Snooty Pottybrains?
Technology – All Pervasive?
OK, I fill a technical role, for a technology company and tend to work closely with the IT staff on customer site. With that I know (hope) that I have a better than average grasp of technology. Conversely, I often have to explain technical concepts to business (non technical) users. Another good example would be helping my dad to use his computer and “make the internet work”
I must have been having a bad week but it struck me how there are certain concepts that we take for granted that maybe we shouldn’t.
